Use this when you need a metadata catalog for NASA GIBS VIIRS/HLS and NOAA nowCOAST GOES/global IR browser tile layers: layer id, tile URL templates, latest available date, licence and credit. No proxied imagery.

What it is

Catalog of the five keyless satellite imagery overlays used in TRIPWIRE (NASA GIBS VIIRS true colour, HLS S30, HLS L30; NOAA nowCOAST global IR and GOES IR). Returns tile URL templates and the latest advertised observation time. Clients load tiles directly from NASA/NOAA (CORS *); CEV-OS never proxies, stores or redistributes imagery bytes. Optional id= filter.

Example request

No account and no key. Query values below are the examples or defaults from the registry. An optional free key (header x-api-key) raises the limits; create one at https://cev-os.com/#api_keys after signing in with a verified email (Google sign-in is already verified).

Update frequency

Latest dates fetched from GIBS DescribeDomains and nowCOAST GetCapabilities on request (cached 10 minutes). Tile templates are static.

Public cache: 600 seconds (Cache-Control: public, max-age=600).

Sources, license and usage

License status: cleared. NASA GIBS imagery is public-domain / openly usable NASA data (acknowledge GIBS/ESDIS). NOAA nowCOAST is US Government work (public domain). Keyless. Tile bytes are loaded by the client from NASA/NOAA; this product is catalog metadata only.
